Welcome to my website, my name is Ashley Bliss and I am an artist and lover off all the arts. My artistic background is that I graduated from Missouri State University (Southwest Missouri State University when I attended it), with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Fine Art Photography. I spent 4 years of my life in multiple darkrooms in college, developing and printing my work of 35mm, medium, and large format film photography. It was fabulous! Studying the fundamentals of photography, drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking and sculpture was amazing. I fell in love with art history too and can therefore spend an entire day by myself in an art museum and have a blast. Who I am as an artist at this point of my life is due to my studies in Springfield, Missouri and I cherish those days.
After college, in 2003 I moved to the island of Oahu, Hawai’i, It was quite different from where I grew up which was a great thing to experience, especially at that age. After living on Oahu for about two years, I moved in with my best friend from high school who lived in Vail, Colorado. I fell in love with Vail and stayed for 5 years. After Vail I moved back to St. Louis, Missouri, I had been away from my family for awhile and I wanted to spend some time with my grandparents who were in their nineties then. After moving back to St. Louis and living there for two years, I knew I wanted to live in southern California. We visitied family in southern California and Oakland a lot growing up so I always wondered why my parents wanted to leave California and move back to Missouri. I moved to Huntington Beach, California in 2011. I lived in Orange County for three years and then moved to the north county of San Diego in 2014 and have been here since. I truly love this area. I was raised in a suburb of St. Louis, but I was actually born and lived in southern California until I was 4. I really get a sense of coming full circle in my life living here again.
Throughout all these years I had various jobs in photography while working in the restaurant industry (the last nine years being in management) for over 20 years, After realizing that I was passionate about graphic design as much as I was about photography, I went back to college to continue my creative college education earning Associates Degrees in both Graphic and Web Design. Currently, I’m the Creative Marketing Designer at The Bridges in Rancho Santa Fe, CA. I am trilled to say that I was selected as the 2025 Employee of the Year and what a feeling that was, I am extremely grateful and honored for this recognition. In July of 2025 I earned my AIGA Design Professional Certification (AIGA-PD).
Some of my hobbies that I enjoy are: being in nature, photography, traveling, learning astrophotography, hiking, going to the beach, rollerblading, surfing, city hopping, live music, watching the Padres, and visiting local state and National Parks.
